  • i’m honestly curious if Apple’s growth into custom silicon will eventually make Macs preferable for gaming

    • @Haunted Yt Getting this for school and programming is excessive.

    • @Ashmit Khadka you’re not very smart I can see that.

    • @Sam Pazdan i sure hope so

    • It's not really up to Apple. It's more up to the game developers optimizing their games for ARM. I think there will be a lot of companies looking to do so.

    • @MobStellar you're right, I totally forgot about the m1 mba!

  • great review! cant wait for my max 16' to come in a week!

    • @JD You and Joven these are a great device at my parents don’t want to buy me one but I want it

    • It’s an amazing investment

    • @JD ok 👌🏾

    • @Bzzz yes! its amazing...

    • It’s been a week. You got it yet

  • The intel based 16" looks so much cleaner and more refined, but Apple made the right choice giving up looks for functionality. It makes sense to put looks first on their base products, the ones people buy just to say they have an apple product, but the "Pro" models should actually be made for the people who are looking for a laptop that is going to be a workhorse. I'm definitely happy with this new functionality over style logic from Apple's "Pro" lineup. Although I do agree, I will miss the touch bar...Not only was it nice for emojis, but it was also great for autocorrect. I never had a problem with using it when I was looking for a more traditional use of it, but the added functionality was definitely nice. Glad Apple was listening to it's consumers, but unfortunately, it's consumers were wrong😂😂

    • @Walker Firmin They brought some ports back which people were begging for (especially MagSafe), and for the 2019 version, they scrapped their keyboard for a more traditional one. They definitely are starting to listen to their customers a little more, and I really think getting rid of the touchbar was part of it. It does save them money, but it was one of the last things (alongside the port options) that people were still constantly complaining about. They may have had a masterplan of waiting till they released their own silicon in the MacBook Pros to help boost sales, but they definitely did listen. The notch is definitely a weird topic. I'd argue that on the MacBook Pro, it doesn't look bad. I don't think the iPhone should still have it, but the MacBook Pro definitely shouldn't be sacrificing quality in the camera if it wants to be a "Pro" Machine. Unlike the iPhone, I feel like it's going to be completely non-obtrusive cause it's where the menu bar goes anyways. With that said, I definitely get your point about the notch.

    • @Hamad It would be awesome if they added it as an option, but they may have thought not enough people would want it to make it worth it for them. The other thought is they may be trying to push more people into buying the iPad Pro alongside the MacBook Pro. It definitely is working for me, cause I'm considering getting the 12.9" iPad Pro so I can have a touchscreen running MacOS, and use it for my photo editing (and extra screen real-estate for music production is always nice).

    • @Shegeloaf Haha, Apple definitely has the tendency to do that. Bringing the glass back on their iPhones is another great example.

    • Apple doesn’t listen though. I feel like the touch bar was more of a cost savings and then they stuck us with their notch proving that Apple doesn't listen to customers Apple just does what Apple wants.

    • I love the touch bar on my old 16"...sad to see it go. Would be cool if Apple still gave customers the ability to add it as an option!

  • Yeah, I'm one of those 10% who liked the touch bar. Would be nice to have a separate keyboard with one.

    • I have gone with the 2020 m1 13inh MacBook Pro just for the Touch Bar

    • I wish apple would have also added the m1 pro or max on the 13 inch macbook pro with the touch bar, cause tbh i hate the aesthetic of the 14 and 16. Like give me the 13 inch with the only change being the m1 pro or max with the display change but keep everything the same. Ports i dont really care for much

    • @Team Puzel This comment is underrated. I use the keyboard backlight keys quite often and removing those for a spotlight key (which just duplicates the command space shortcut, as you said) makes no sense!

    • The brightness slider & volume slider came in handy !

    • Touch Bar lover as well that’s pretty much the only reason I can’t part with my 2019 16” MacBook Pro!

  • Honestly, i prefer the 2020 version. Personally i loved the touchbar and thin/light design of the previous MacBooks. As a student, the ports are not needed for me and i love just having 2 thunderbolt ports and a headjack. Also this new notch doesn't seem right, has no face id and blocks a tiny bit of the screen. I will be personally keeping my 2020 MacBook pro as i love it and find it more suitable and convenient for a student like me. However i loved the video, and cant wait to see an in depth review of it, you may change my mind 👀

    • Don’t forget that the battery life of the new 16” pro blows the 2020 intel model out of the water. No need to carry around a charger.

    • @Jaime Duncan yh agreed, whatever your profession is, you need different extras and specs

    • @s e R A E t o n i n very true, however i did want to treat myself and i do love the touchbar

    • @Prashant Chaudhary ok perfect 👍

    • The macbook pro lineup isn't really intended for students. Most students will be fine with a regular macbook or macbook air unless they need FCP. The addition of ports is helpful and necessary for professionals who deal with photography and video where everything is via SD card and it just adds more versatility and function to bring back the ports. A lot of people don't want to be carrying around a bunch of dongles when working. You forget things or lose them, and it's just more convenient overall, if the expensive powerful laptop you bought has all the tools you need.

  • Can’t wait to get my hands on the 14 in MacBook Pro. Been running a mid-2012 MBP for 8 years and this upgrade is worth the money.

    • @Design Explained LLC why not let people decide what they want or dont want to purchase? who are you to know their needs or how much theyre future proofing with the laptop they're gonna buy lol

    • @Design Explained LLC Appreciate your seeming concern and your suggestions for someone else who needs to preserve frugality. Doesn’t apply to me. My decision is concrete.

    • @ColdDiva Well, the newest highest end macbook pro laptop loses 50% of its MSRP in the 1st year. While a used $800-900 m1 13 inch might loose like 10-20% of the price you bought it for. It's your money, I figured since you were used to the performance of a 2009 macbook, it wouldn't matter to you.

    • @TheIkaika777 Highly unlikely.

    • @ColdDiva, in 12 months the M1 Max will be a lower end purchase.

  • I loved the functionally of the touch bar I decided not to upgrade at this time... I think I'll stick with what works for me...

    • Me too

    • Same, It's still hard for me to understand why people hate it so much. But I agree my macbook pro 2020 still looks and acts like new and although I love the new macbooks I don't see myself buying/ wanting to buy a new computer for a few more years.

  • I love the touchbar too! I knew I could count on you to talk about that. Its honestly causing me to hesitate on upgrading. I would miss its functionality for real. And how about the autofill?!

  • Ideally, I would have liked half height function keys and an IMPROVED Touch Bar. I also would have liked 1 USB-A port, as a lot of stuff still comes with that. But overall, I’m happier with the new design than the old.

  • if this MacBook was closed and sitting on a table next to a closed pervious gen Macbook Pro 16', if i've never seen the new MacBook Pro i would've thought that this was the old one.

    • @CallMeVid definitely

    • Yeah no this one looks old and even tho I know it’s metal, on camera it looks like plastic Buuuut ig aesthetics aren’t what you’re going for if you want the biggest boi specs on a laptop Performance is probably more important than design at this point lmao

    • @gwvaio 100% agreed, the aesthetics are just not for me I’ll have to stick with my M1 13’ MacBook Pro but I honestly knew this was coming especially for the 16 inch

    • Big fax. I do like the design of the old one better but I won’t argue against the thicker machine because it provides better thermals and room for a bigger battery.

  • Difference with old MBP16 is insane !! 😱😱 Good job Apple !

  • Powerbook G4 vibes. I actually love the Touch Bar and the previous design, it looks more futuristic. Hopefully, Apple will bring back a better Touch Bar within 5 years to the future MBP.

  • Apple did a great job listening to the general public who are power users. I think it’s safe to say the MacPro’s and iMac Pro’s were commercial failures and it’s partially due to Intel’s limitations. With that said, I am going to keep my 16’ Retina. Aesthetically the previous generation looks much better (even w/the touchbar) and an HDMI and MagSafe port is not enough for me to cough out that much money. These would be great for more power users who will use the processors/GPU to its full potential. The 16’/i9 is a sweet spot for those of us who aren’t into video/audio rendering and are just average consumers. Great video as always bro! Keep pushing. 💯👍🏾

    • Same, i’m not buying any of these new mac. Old look really better for me and touchbar is a good thing

  • I was part of Team Touchbar! Maybe they can bring it back one day as a separate row above the function keys and give us the best of both worlds

  • I love that apple went to their old ways sort of with the MacBook Pro line up.

    • @Ari Wenger their design choices in the last half decade were very questionable or even outright bad. I'm glad they just realized their mistakes and went back with this one

    • @Mel O no, i just possess the ability to think critically. you should try it sometime

    • Is it out in the market yet?

    • @Ari Wenger apple hater

    • i kind of don't. makes their design choices for the last half decade or so very questionable.

  • I actually think I might miss the Touch Bar as well. I didn’t really use much of the functionality, but I liked that it was there, and felt it made the MBP a bit more “futuristic” looking.

  • I was actually expecting the webcam to be much better. It does look improved compared to old one, but it has a hazy look to it (washed out) with raised iso which is surprising since he has a decent light setup. Anyone agree?

    • And no Face ID wtf

    • Yeah that's true. Hopefully they'll fix it in a software update

  • this fuses the best of both worlds - powerful performance with massive battery life

  • I’m pretty practical so the performance kind of sways me toward buying this new mac and the fact that my specked out 16” is now rapidly depreciating in value makes me want to get it off my hands before it is worthless. However the notch annoys me a lot and loss of a thunderbolt port for a basic SD card slot and HDMI port has me annoyed too. I wish I could have bought my 16” without the touchbar so that fact that I have to buy a new computer to get my function keys back annoys me too. This is a hard sell for me to decide to upgrade.

  • Hey, I’ve got a question here🙋🏻‍♂️ I would like to know how’s the portability of the 16”. I’d love to get it but I want to know first how it is to take it around, if it’s bearable or just impossible to deal with (too heavy and big to use around like in flights, airport, university, cafes etc…)

  • Apple just convinced a million or so customers that would have bought a more expensive MacBook Pro to get the cheaper MacBook Air. I'm not a Pro, so I like thin laptops that look nice as well as perform great for my non-Pro workload. I would love it so much if they brought the TouchBar to the M2 MacBook Air. Since the Pros are too Pro to use it, let us common folk have it.

  • Ordered the 16 inch version m1 max with 32gb ram to browse the web and watch ESmain and social network. Hopefully will be powerful.

    • @Dimitri J if you’re gonna be using it for general school work such as writing essays or general browsing, then just get the 2019 or 2020. These macbooks pros are made for people who need all the power it comes with , so for the general public it’d be a smarter move to get last years macbook. Unless you have money to spend then get your bragging rights and order the new one lol

    • lmao that’s why I bought the 2019 or 2020 ? one a couple months ago . I’m unsure if I should upgrade to this one . I’m mostly gonna be using It for my school work. can someone help me decide ?

    • With Chrome, you're SOL.

    • Thanks for the lolz! Have my upvote

    • I literally have 380 tabs open I still need to get to.

  • Absolutely would love to see a "real day in the life of... " video, love your atitude and content, always positive and upbeat--- great work!

    • @Whats App plus➊➋⓿➊➋⓿➊➐➏➒➌‬ Imposter, you are not Judner.

  • Great review, really loving your content.

  • The webcam doesn't look like as much of an upgrade as they promoted it as to me, it's definitely over-soft and ISO bumped. I'd rather a bit more grain for a bit more detail.

  • I really don't understand the hate for the notch on macs actually. It literally won't cut into content and only helped make room for more content below it by moving the menu bar up higher.

    • @CGGS_Gaming heard of the something called an iPhone, that has a notch which takes up screen space.

    • They probably tested them with Face ID at some point and then left it out on the final version.

    • @bluefrisky It must. Cause I can't see an actual functional reason that it's bad on a Mac. On phones the notches and cut outs could be argued as cutting into content depending on how devs design their apps at least.

    • tbh it feels like those who complain about it aren’t even the ones who would buy a macbook in the first place 😆

    • it comes from people who don't understand it and just see a notch and go "nOtCh bAd"

  • I liked the Touch Bar as well. Trading in my 13 inch M1 MacBook for the new 16 inch. Need a bigger screen 😀

  • Love the design but damn, the price… I think we all know how Apple will price their products moving forward… Their more colourful products will be targeted towards the masses while their serious colour, premium materials will be for the high end consumers. The iPhone will be Vertu’s price in the future.

  • thanks for this video, i enjoyed watching it, the new Macbook 16" performance was interesting, looking forward for the full review of this beast.

  • For when the I upgrade from my M1 I really hope they bring back the Touch Bar. I absolutely love it. Great video again fam loving the energy as always ✨👍🏾✨

  • i’m honestly curious if Apple’s growth into custom silicon will eventually make Macs preferable for gaming

    • @Design Explained LLC You smoking crack if you believe what you're saying here. The MacBook is already a good gaming machine.

    • Probably not for decades in their laptops. A sub 200W laptop will never be good for gaming since Apple GPU's are optimized for power consumption and performance, and high end gaming GPUs from Nvidia are just optimized for performance. Apple's Mac Pro already can play 4k AAA games with the dual Apple Radeon Pro Vega II Duo MPX cards. You have to drop $10k+ for those cards though that is worse than a single rtx 3090 for $3k on eBay.

    • @BabaBoeey Apple has used gaming performance in the previous M1 MacBook, so I think they do care a bit about PC Gaming.

    • bruh you literally copied a comment 💀

    • I think macs will eventually dominate and if you want windows, you’ll access it through the browser (windows 365).

  • Waiting for M2 with much more CPU cores (my M1 are perfect so far: mini, Air, iPP).

  • Maybe two days ago I was looking at one of your old videos, you have improved so much. Keep the good work! In terms of beauty the old one is millions of years ahead, but it's a compromise to have HDMI. Yes the brick should have the ethernet but guess change is willing. Yes do the review.

  • Getting the 16” with 64 GB of ram, 4 TB of SSD- viewed your video, Dave2D, Justin Tse, Tyler Stalman and Matti Haapoja. Great review and committing to it now.

  • God damn these things are beautiful, akin to the older designs with the absolute killer specs. This really is a win win. makes me wish I did get the M1 MBP Last year!

  • Apples dominance is truly on display now. These new MacBooks are truly awesome machines.

  • I liked the Touch Bar too, the next generation of that idea had so much promise. The world of the keyboard hasn’t advanced in a long time. A gen 2 Touch Bar could have been great.

  • I bought the 14in myself and I’m getting it tomorrow. Glad to see what it looks like😅

    • @Abhishek Joshi, well in your case you’ll probably benefit from the M1 Pro or M1 Max. Good luck. 👍🏻

    • @TheIkaika777 yeah i know but its good to have power since i am a software developer

    • @Abhishek Joshi, The 13 inch M1 MacBook Pro is a ridiculously powerful laptop. Unless you’re doing a ton of 3-D rendering stuff then the M1 Pro and M1 Max are overkill.

    • @Apple Wrld oh yes, that was a good decision !

    • @Nobara it’s ok. I mean, you can still use it until you get enough money to pay the new one.

  • It’s beautiful and looks cool 😎 love it 👍

  • It would be nice if u guys compare performance using parallel 17 running windows 10/11 on M1 & M1 Max.

  • The most mind blowing part of the M1 Max and Pro chips is that they can deliver the same performance even when unplugged.

  • It would be very cool if we would see a real day in the life. I'm wondering what the battery will do with so much power

  • Hey guys! A very cool first review of the new mac. Emotional. Cool. I have a mac mini m1 with 16 RAM, 8 processors and 8 GPUs. A very pitiful specimen compared to this monster. I wonder what the difference is compared to the first generation? Is this the same thing that was promised and said in Cupertino, or did they exaggerate or did they even downplay it?

  • I’m with your on the touch bar… I really enjoyed using it.

  • I really enjoyed this review! I’ll be getting my new MacBookPro tomorrow morning and I can’t wait!

  • *inner scream* I was on the apple store website to buy mine and refreshed the YT page to see if someone already had it because I couldn't decide between the 14" or the 16", good thing with these is that I waited for them for so long that I could save up and be spoiled for choice, nice review as always (and I'm gonna pick the 14" :) )

  • So I’m curious what Apple does with the review units once they’re returned? I’m trying to grow my channel and am shooting content in 4K but am still working on my 2014 MacBook Pro so I’m not able to render or export the footage in 4K and am curious to know whether or not they have any sort of donation program for content creators? Just a question though and maybe one day I’ll be able to actually afford one of these beasts. Great video though and have a great day✌🏽😃✌🏽

  • I’m also gonna miss the Touch Bar and when I first saw it closed in the video, my reaction was ‘dang that thing looks ugly af 🤣’ But it’s all good cuz ik it’s thicker for the better and it will grow on me like the iPhone notch 🥴 MacBook notch>iPhone notch

  • I can’t lie, that MacBook looks beautiful. But damn I’m annoyed that they even took away the ports on a PRO model. Absolutely ridiculous but I can respect a company that knows when they missed a good moment

  • honestly the previous design looks less 'chubby' and more futuristic tho.

    • @Ex Tra AHH that makes sense, it could also hint towards macbooks getting dedicated gpus with apple silicon.

    • @pranav reddy yeah, that’s why there’s already the M1 MacBook Pro. but there’s a reason they’re not using the same chassis for the pro and max. They need more space for the beefier chipsets and components

    • @Ex Tra but with the M1 chip thermals aren't an issue with the thinner chassis really

    • I agree it looked way better but its slimmer design was always a bottleneck for performance and efficient thermals for years. Apple finally is prioritizing power with large battery capacities for their true Pro models. With that said, I do wish the shape was more like the previous ones too, the new shape looks old and kinda archaic

    • @Piotr amen

  • Oh man it's so beautiful. I had one of the old school 17" MBP from back in the day and I'm getting some serious retro vibes from this thicc big boy.

  • Love the notch, wanted it since iPhone X. Looks unique and slick. Love the rounded screen. HATE the thicc design. Total style downgrade from the immaculate 16" 2019 design. Don't even know what an SD Card is (I'm 30), should have made a version without it or HDMI to keep the slick design of 2019 16". Im buying it but if the design slightly changes next year, definitley getting that (Doubt it. Probably wont get a new design for 4-5 years).

  • Hey Jud do u recommend putting accessories on it like covers for the laptop, screen protectors

  • I’m a touch bar lover and want to upgrade. However I will wait until FaceID makes it into the notch. Loving my 13 Pro Max.

  • Definitely gonna miss my touch bar but these new computers are BEAST!

  • Got my 16 inch MBP 16", 16GB, M1 Pro, 1 TB by WALKING INTO MY LOCAL APPLE STORE ❤️👩🏾‍🦳 Very happy w/this $3000 (w/ AC+) "low end model"!

  • Hi!!, do you recommend max out to 8 tb or 4 tb ssd storage? I look for longevity and sweet spot.

  • not agree with "nobody like the notch". it looks pretty cool, makes it stand out and doesn't disturb any features of the new mbp. at least it has its identity 😉

  • Maybe it’s my screen, but from here that super clear silver color in contrast with the pitch-black keyboard makes it look a bit cheap (brutally speaking, it looks like a HP laptop now). Space grey looks tons better - because the keyboard and the body are not so different in shade.

  • I really want to see how the 14"compares.

  • "Time to call it a day.." This review tells it like it is! Thanks!!

  • The fact that the M1 Max has the graphical equivalent to an Nvidia RTX 3070/3080 is crazy

    • It actually doesn’t, tests have shown it’s more equivalent to 3060. I think I saw this on Dave2D’s channel

  • I got it In space gray but damn that silver one looks so much better. It’s so classic macbook with that black keyboard. Reminds me of my old PowerBook g4

  • As soon as it he unwrapped it I also thought it looked like those old plastic macbooks with the boxy-ness

    • chunky as hell

  • Full review day in the life, can’t reach deep to the 16, definitely the 14 though

  • It is looks old school and unattractive. No touchbar, the keyboard aluminum in the middle also gone. Honestly, I am upset about that. BUT, those big battery, extra ports, power, screen and performance made up those negative. I definitely love this machine. Once I have budget, I'll buy this beast for sure.

  • Hey @uraverageconsumer I love your videos. Super chill, detailed and everything. I wanted to ask, if this is a long shot, if you have an extra Mac, any, may have one? I never had a Mac and till this day I could never afford one. I always wanted a Mac. But thanks anyways I know this is a long shot like shooting a three point to the moon.

  • Please do a real day in the life for this laptop that would be awesome!

  • *I would go for a fully spaced out 14 inch* … the 16 is just too thick, large and heavy for meeee

  • Is 32GB enough for photo / video editing ? Or should I go for 32 GPU / 64GB RAM ? I am a photographer / videographer whose main focus currently is wedding photo/video. Most of the weddings I shoot have like 60-70 GB for photos alone. I plan to get into editing ads, short films and also for coding. B&H & Adorama giving $200 off for the Max 32 GPU/ 32GB ram & 1 TB SSD

  • What a great case of the wrong item to unbox/preview. I mean… this thing for sure isn’t for the literal average consumer, because if you don’t use it’s potential, the MacBook Pro isn’t worth it. Especially not, if the product in question is as ridiculously expensive as this one.

  • I actually liked the touchbar i just used a third party app to make it more functional

  • Nice video , I'd like to buy this 16‘’ MBP and plug an portable monitor for my workflow, should I buy an OLED portable monitor to match the MBP's screen?

  • Waiting how good the M1 Max for gaming with M1 compatible game, perhaps like Baldur gate 3 and divinity 2, I heard both has arm version too.

    • @Lowe Gule Got it!

    • @scripteaze i know. I just want to know how good it is.

    • you silly man, this is not a gaming system. You could build the best gaming PC in the world with the same money.

  • I think a video showing everything you guys did from a full charge to 0% would be interesting.

  • A real day in the life with this would be awesome!

  • I love watching videos about things i will never afford 😃

    • well atleast you have watched them virtually now 😂😂

    • One day that is.

    • Thats rude to yourself at least say i will afford it someday if not now 🙄

    • Maybe one day 🤞

  • 2:54 Thanks for explaining what mag safe means. I was wondering.

  • This M1 Pro & M1 Max MacBook Pro is Absolutely a Legendary Machine. It's a real MONSTER.

  • Great video, I was curious, if I'm not a video editor and use Lightroom and Photoshop for my professional business what chip and configuration would you recommend?

    • Probably not the max, consider pro 10core 16gpu? Personally I think ram makes a more significant diff for future proofing

  • Wow that new MacBook Pro looks so cool! I want to trade in my old MacBook Air

  • Can you find an app that has its menu bar full from left to right? And, see if the menu’s options gets dropdown box or slide-over?

  • The camerawork on this channel is really good. Subscribed

  • *Don’t know why they removed the Touch Bar, was such a good feature*

  • Not a fan of this new ''old classic'' design. Is very thick. After revealed i buyed macbook pro 2020 because of the design and price :) I think the design is better on 2020 generations

  • This 💻 MacBook would definitely be a good update from my very very very old thinkpad Lenovo, that I might add got secondhand from my friend…… and I hate them both for multiple reasons.

  • I loved the touchbar as well.

  • I really like that all black keyboard better! ⌨️ ❤️👏🏻👍🏻

  • That intro 🔥🔥

  • I loved the touchbar 🥲

  • Some people don’t like the new design, but it’s like the old Power Books and that’s awesome.

  • Yeah ima go with the 14 inch now that I’ve seen how massive the 16 inch is

  • The new model does bring me back to the original models, but my question would be why the design change? Same as for the iPhone13 that looks like the original iPhone 5.

  • So this Macbook is so powerful! Me: For that power can I play High graphics games on it? Or this beast is just for video editing?

  • what specs would you recommend for someone looking to get into youtube video editing and photoshop, as well as web design, schoolwork and media consumption? this is my first macbook ever btw

  • I do think the touchbar removal was a mistake Cr🍎 could’ve and should’ve easily kept it and moved to in between screen and keyboard with the function keys back‼️

  • when apple makes a new mac pro desktop with this new silicon, it will be insane

  • I’m torn.. i love MagSafe.. but being able to plug my charging cord into either side is nice

  • I need to start creating ESmain videos or other content creation just so I can justify buying this for myself. Lol

  • Any recommendations on what laptop, tablet etc I should buy? I'm looking to use Adobe illustrator to make stickers. And also looking to draw on the screen. I can settle for a separate drawing pad compatible to a Laptop thanks!
